Freshman
Guidance
The most important issue in freshmen year is the transition to a new school. Freshmen are understandably anxious
about taking new courses, making new friends and having new teachers.
Freshmen face new academic expectations such as more homework and study,
long-term projects, and Regents examinations.
Guidance counselors help freshmen understand the importance
of being organized, developing good study habits, and accepting personal
responsibility for their school work, their grades and their behavior.
By working closely with freshmen, their
transition to high school
is made easier, and that they become truly comfortable
in their new surroundings.
